Ce lexique comprend les termes (et leurs définitions) propres au bâtiment, ses constituants et son environnement, dans les deux langues; l’arabe et le français. Les définitions ont été données dans le soucis de mieux cerner le sens recouvert par chacun des termes et par là permettre un usage plus juste de ce dernier.

Le lexique est structuré de manière à offrir la possibilité d’être consulté selon quatre voies différentes:

  1.  L’ordre alphabétique des termes français suivis de leurs définitions, en face de chacun d’eux se trouve le terme correspondant en langue arabe ainsi que sa définition.

  2.  L’ordre thématique où les termes sont regroupés selon plusieurs rubriques dont chacune est constituée en fonction de la proximité du sens ou de l’appartenance à un même thème en architecture.

  3.  L’ordre alphabétique des termes arabes jumelés avec leurs correspondants en français.

  4.  Les illustrations qui comportent les termes qui les désignent dans les deux langues.
